Welcome, baby Evan!
And now, a little foray into the world of animal alphabets to celebrate the birth of our nephew, Evan Noah. The artwork was printed on archival matte paper, double matted, and framed in triptych. We may have strayed away from recipes this time, but the little guy sure is delicious. We hope he enjoys his colorful new friends!
Tony's wedding gift
Is there any wedding present that demonstrates brotherly love and affection better than an illustrated recipe of Grandma's famous Sunday morning cocktail? We think not. For his brother's nuptials, Tony requested a version of our Bloody Mary canvas (see bottom of page), spiced up with a few personal touches, including a pickle spear, some specific instructions regarding vodka, and an heirloom bean pot. (Nana always served her bloodies with baked beans, cooked all night long.) Now there's a family tradition worth adopting as our own.
Julie's mom's birthday
To celebrate her mother's birthday, Julie asked us to create a canvas homage to Ann's famous chocolate pie--the one all the kids and grandchildren request for special occasions. We picked rich hues to match both the color scheme in Ann's kitchen and the luscious concoction. As her kitchen also features some French Provencal elements, we chose to incorporate a traditional tablecloth-style fleur-de-lis motif into the background. The scrumptious pie takes center stage in this canvas, but we wanted to make sure to fit in the full recipe, as well. A light border fitted with the recipe text is in keeping with the country French design and ensures that Ann, Julie, and all the kids will be able to keep this recipe alive for generations to come.
Michelle and Dave's new apartment
To celebrate moving in together, Michelle and Dave wanted a piece of artwork to represent one of the "foundation myths" of their relationship. Their story was irresistible: On the first day of his new job, Michelle decided to surprise Dave with an elaborate 1950s housewife-fantasy dinner, complete with boeuf bourguignon, a sexy apron, and the very first cake she (normally a pie and cookie kind of gal) had ever baked. The luscious chocolate ganache cake turned out to be the highlight of the meal. Although the original disappeared faster than you can say another spoonful of ganache please, we've memorialized a slice on canvas so their shared memory can last forever.
Lauren and Daniel's 1st anniversary
A first anniversary gift from the mother of the groom, Lauren and Daniel's canvas features a scrumptious recipe for red velvet cupcakes interspersed with some of their favorite wedding day memories. We chose a pink and green color scheme to match their wedding colors and added a little illustration modeled after the wedding cake topper. Now the lovebirds can reminisce about their special day and satisfy that red velvet craving at the same time! Doubly delicious.
Bloody Mary
This one was just for kicks. We took a classic cocktail recipe and jazzed her up with a sunny, brunchy illustration and a spicy little limerick. We haven't tested yet, but we're pretty sure our canvases are splash resistant.
